Abstract

Introduction: Tinea corporis (dermatophysis) is a common dermatophytic infection that affects a significant proportion of the global population, with dermatophytosis accounting for nearly 20–25% of all superficial fungal infections worldwide. Increasing reports of resistance and relapse to conventional antifungal therapy highlight the need for alternative approaches. This case is unique in demonstrating how past history can decisively influence remedy selection in homoeopathic practice, contributing to the exsisting literature on individualised approaches for chronic, relapsing fungal infections. Case Summary: A 35-year-old female presented with multiple erythematous, scaly, pruritic plaques on the back and abdomen, with itching aggravated by sweating and tight clothing. She was initially prescribed Arsenicum album in LM potency, which provided only palliative relief. Considering her past history of suppressed gonorrhoea, Medorrhinum 200C was prescribed, leading to marked and sustained improvement. Kent's Twelve Observations and Foubister's emphasis on past history guided remedy selection. The progress was monitored using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), which reduced from 23 to 0, and the MONARCH score (+10) supported causal attribution. Pictorial documentation further validated the outcome. This case highlights the importance of careful evaluation of past history in differentiating palliation from cure and in preventing relapse, underscoring its clinical relevance in homoeopathic case management.
